Glendale, Seattle Set for Inaugural Championship July 7 at 9 p.m. EDT
The first-ever MLR Champions will hoist America’s Championship Shield on Saturday, July 7 at Torero Stadium in San Diego.
The No. 1 Glendale Raptors and No. 2 Seattle Seawolves will clash for the third time this season. The winning side will be awarded the 80-pound, nearly three-foot tall shield made of carbon and titanium steel.
The match will air live on CBS Sports Network with Dan Power, Pete Steinberg and Brian Hightower on the call.
“The product MLR put on the field each week made our jobs a lot easier,” Power said. “I’m extremely happy to have Brian Hightower and Pete Steinberg along with me, as well. Both have such passion for the game and a dedication to their craft. Finally, the fans, you have been the stars this year. Keep showing up for home games and tuning in. See you all Saturday!”
MLR Championship – July 7:

“Calling the inaugural season of Major League Rugby has been an honor,” Steinberg said. “It is great to see the teams grow throughout the season and it is not surprising that the two teams in the MLR Championship are two that have the most distinct approaches to winning.”
“The best one can hope for as a broadcaster is to have competitive matches to call, compelling personalities to talk about and a dramatic season finale to boot,” Hightower said. “This inaugural season of MLR accomplished all of these and more. This MLR Championship is a fitting tribute to a banner first year. I’m honored to be part of it.”
MLR is a professional rugby league that launched in April of 2018. It’s an initiative of the American rugby community, in partnership with private investors, who believe that American rugby can thrive at the highest levels: as a commercial enterprise; as an influential player on the international scene; and as a participation sport at the youth and senior level. MLR is the pinnacle of the American rugby, and provides a rallying point for local communities, a focal point for American rugby fans, and an aspirational destination for young athletes.
