The rumors had been swirling around, but the Glendale Raptors have officially announced probably the biggest move this Major League Rugby offseason as they signed flanker Hanco Germishuys. Germishuys might be the most talented flanker in the United States and seeing a move like this made to a club that was arguably the best in MLR, it is just incredible to see and the possibility of how 2019 will go gets exciting for any rugby fan. Germishuys has speed, is tactfully sound, smart on the pitch, an excellent tackler, and very strong. He is just an incredibly good rugby player.
Germishuys had played with the Austin Elite in 2018, but Austin was not able to retain him, allowing Germishuys to sign for any team making him one of the most coveted players on the market. He was outstanding in 2018 as he scored six tries for the Elite putting him tied for third in the league with now Glendale teammate Zach Fenoglio. He was also named to the All-MLR First Team at the flanker position. One could even make an argument that he was the best forward in the league in 2018.
