Colorado Business Westerra Partners as Official Credit Union

Local Colorado financial services provider Westerra has become the official Credit Union of the professional Glendale Raptors team. The culmination of a multi-year sponsor partnership, the move comes as Major League Rugby arrives in the United States.

The Credit Union already holds naming rights on Infinity Park’s Westerra Plaza, and with the launch of Major League Rugby, has elected to step up its sponsorship commitment. Nancy Bunte, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Westerra, describes the organization’s decision: “We’ve been part of the local community for more than 80 years. We want people to know how we can add value to their lives. Being here in the area it’s just natural for us to be involved with local events in our community, and this is our third year as a sponsor of the Raptors. It’s a way for us to show our support for our local community, and we’re excited for this season.”

Founded in 1934 by a group of Colorado schoolteachers, the Credit Union took on the name Westerra in 2006. Westerra ranks among the top 150 Credit Unions in the United States, its assets exceed $1.5 billion, and it serves more than 115,000 members. Headquartered on Denver’s Alameda Avenue, Westerra offers a variety of financial services, including credit cards, home and auto loans, and various options for checking and savings accounts.

Dana Russell, Manager for Marketing and Public Relations at the Credit Union, describes the value of partnership with the Raptors, and the scope of activities at Infinity Park: “There is so much that goes on at Infinity Park. You’ve got the youth programming, the Merlins club teams, Monday Movies, the RugbyTown Tournament, the beer festival, and of course the Raptors. It’s a hub of the community. Being the official Credit Union of the pro team, and having naming rights for the Westerra Plaza really solidified our desire to be a sponsor. It’s a great opportunity for us to be involved.”

Partnered with the Raptors, Westerra is also building on a relationship with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, spurring account growth and charitable giving through a unique fundraising opportunity. The program provides a $52.80 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs for nearly every new account type opened at the Credit Union, including the official Glendale Raptors Visa credit or debit card. The donation amount is tied to Westerra’s local heritage, a nod to the elevation of the Mile-High city. Raptors players and the team’s mascot will be making appearances at Westerra branches in the coming months, engaging with members and fans, signing jerseys, and giving out team merchandise.
