The Glendale Raptors, Colorado’s only Major League Rugby (MLR) team, announced today that they are rebranding as the Colorado Raptors.
It’s great to be able to update our Colorado rugby family on the squad we have put together ahead of the coming MLR campaign. Our staff has been working diligently over the past several months in planning for a new and improved team environment for the 2020 Raptors season. A big part of this was recruiting players who bought in to a team first, win now mindset, and personally I’m extremely excited to welcome our new additions to Colorado.
As soon as I was named head coach of the Glendale Raptors, I was very excited to start implementing big changes – changes not necessarily to the team, but to the culture.
Glendale’s own Luke Gross was inducted into the Rugby Hall of Fame on July 26, 2019 during a USA Rugby banquet held in the Infinity Park Event Center. Luke has a long relationship with rugby and has earned his spot with 62 US national team caps, three World Cups and 13 years of coaching and mentoring rugby players.
It’s bittersweet whenever anyone leaves the nest, but every Raptor lives in our hearts forever. Today, we would like to thank Zack Fenoglio, Casey Rock, Peter Dahl and Maximo de Achaval for everything they have done for the Glendale Raptors, and we want to wish them the best as they retire from rugby.
